Hancock and moore power recliner disassembly

This is very similar to my recliner:

It's not going to go to my lower level. How difficult would it be to remove the back rest? Just looking at it last night I'm think that there are 4 screws that hold it to the bottom 'shelf'?

Sorry, I don't understand what you are looking to do. However, H&M recliners do not have removable backs, the mechanism is a single piece unit. If your recliner no longer operates correctly, the ONLY solution is to replace the entire mechanism.

It was a matter of removing the entire mechanism.... I was thinking of cheaper units where the back slides off.

No matter ,it was pretty straightforward with the 4 1/4-20 bolts. The upholstery on the back was quite another matter. I had to remove an awful lot of staples to detach the 'skirt' .

Hopefully i can do it justice when I staple it all back.
