Thread: Can anyone shed some light on this cabinet?

Default Can anyone shed some light on this cabinet?

    Hello everyone.

This is from my mother's estate. I assume it's repro and not an antique.
    The top is removable stone.
Can anyone tell me what it is and how much it might be worth?

That was likely expensive when new, and would be pricey to make today ($ 3K). It would be called a console or display cabinet. It's difficult to set a price on things like that from a few photos. Demand for that style is low right now, which means it's out of favor so I would not expect too much from it. At auction hammer price would probably be $ 400 to $ 700, depending on who is in the crowd. Far less putting it on Facebook Marketplace, etc.

Thank you so much! Yes, these new seem to be selling in the $2-3K range.
Would it be accurate to call it a Louis XV style curio cabinet?

While its craftsmanship may have commanded a hefty price tag originally, the current market for such pieces is tepid. Expectations hover around $400 to $700 at auction, with even less on platforms like Facebook Marketplace. Still, its timeless design warrants admiration."
