I'm interested in buying a Flexsteel Bexley sofa. How much difference is there between the HHH rating and MMM rating for wearability? I wanted to buy an HHH fabric, but found the color I wanted in an MMM. Can you explain the grading of fabrics also? I just got home from a local furniture store and found your forum for the first time. What an education! I cut and pasted the furniture 101 info you gave on another site and hope to refer to it often, before I buy. Thanks so much!
That's Flexsteel's durability rating, and not an industry standard (the fabric industry uses either 'double rub' values or the Wysenbeck test). You'll have to ask your Flexsteel dealer to decode the rub-rating for you and and they will have to call the factory customer service to do so.
FYI 20,000 double rubs is average duty, medium wear.

As a kid my family had furniture covered in Herculon, a polyolefin fibre, I believe, and, yes it could just be youthful impressions, but they were of a furniture fabric that took a lot of punishment from me and my family (with dogs) and held up really well. Were my impressions about the durability of this fabric incorrect? And, if not, what now holds up as well?
